In The News

Dr. Jasin will be featured on ABC Action News, for his participation in a longevity study known as GFX. The feature will air on February 20th, 2008 at 11:00 p.m.

The Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute was selected as one of the ten sites in the U.S. and Canada to participate in a longevity study to evaluate how long the results of a new device, known as GFX, will last. The procedure is a long term alternative to Botox for prolonged reduction or elimination of glabellar or vertical frown lines. Dr. Jasin is the sole physician in the state of Florida to be included as an investigator in the study, and GFX is exclusively offered at the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute. GFX is a procedure that is performed in the office under a local anesthesia and only takes about thirty minutes to perform. After the area is numbed, a
puncture site is made near the outer corner of the eyelids. A thin probe is then passed under the skin to stimulate the nerve going specifically to the frown muscle, known as the corrugator. Once the correct branch of the facial nerve is located, radiofrequency energy is delivered to the nerve to disable it. Although GFX may not be appealing to everyone, it is the first long term alternative we have had to Botox for treatment of vertical frown lines. To schedule your complimentary consultation and to see if this study is right for you, please call 888-815-3223.

What are my responsibilities as a patient?

Although many think the burden of responsibility in cosmetic surgery lies solely with the surgeon, certain obligations also exist for which the patient is accountable.

Drugs
You will no doubt be asked before your surgery what, if any, drugs you are taking. This affects your anesthesia experience as well as the healing process. You must be honest and fully disclose any drug use (both legal and illegal), including alcohol or nicotine (yes, these, too, are drugs). In fact, many plastic surgeons will ask you to quit smoking either before or after the procedure to facilitate healing and reduce scarring.

Medical History
Let the surgeon know your medical history beforehand. If, for example, you have experienced heart or lung disease or if you've been obese in the past, your risk for blood clots, stroke, heart attack and pneumonia rise. These increase the risks of surgery. Telling your doctor beforehand probably won't disqualify you from surgery, but will tell him or her what risks to pay special attention to during the procedure. Remember, your surgeon wants to make sure you come out of the procedure beautiful, not dead.

Openness
Be open and direct about your expectations. Your doctor will let you know whether or not they are realistic. The better you and your doctor communicate, beginning at the initial consultation, the greater the likelihood of a positive cosmetic surgery experience.

Rejuvenate Your Hands With Radiesse and Obagi

Within the past year, Dr. Jasin was introduced to a new technique to rejuvenate your hands. It is done in just three to five minutes, is pain free and there is little or no bruising. Many people realize the importance of maintaining their facial appearance, but neglect to do the same with their hands, thus giving away their age.
In addition to sun damage, our hands manifest aging by losing volume on the back of the hand exposing the underlying tendons and veins to a greater degree. This can make us look older even though you are doing the proper things to maintain your face. The lost volume can be restored with a simple five minute injection of Radiesse into the back of the hands. The Radiesse is injected as a bolus or ball of material, which is gently massaged and molded to allow for diffuse correction. The Radiesse is mixed with lidocaine (a local anesthetic) prior to injection so the procedure is almost painless. A two syringe treatment (one for each hand) is $1,500.00. Some patients need an additional syringe to add extra volume for the hands. The third syringe, if needed, is $500.00. In comparison, this treatment costs $1,000.00 per hand in Miami.
Along with Obagi skin products to reverse sun damage, Radiesse for volume restoration is a great way to rejuvenate your hands and keep your age your little secret.
