Whether due to aging or genetic tendency, many people desire additional volume in their lips.  Today’s fashion trends favor fuller lips over thin lips.  Injectable fillers can be used to fill the lips, but the results are shorter-term than desired by many. 

Lip implants have been available for several years, but have enjoyed limited popularity due to the firm feel and tendency to shrink or contract.  Evera lip implants have recently been redesigned to overcome some of the shortcomings of previous implants.  The Evera implant has an outer shell of a thin layer of polytetrafluoroethylene, a biocompatible material also known as Gore-tex.  Inside this shell is a silicone sac, which is filled with saline.  Because they are fluid filled, the Evera implants have a very natural feel.  The ends are now tapered and the shape is curved to better conform to the natural contour of the lip.
