Rhinoplasty
Serving Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lakeland, and Sarasota
Rhinoplasty is still one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. It is appropriate for men and women from the late teens into the seventies. Rhinoplasty can improve the appearance and function of your nose in many ways.
It can:
- Remove humps
- Reduce width or length
- Increase or decrease overall size
- Straighten a crooked nose
- Correct a drooping tip
- Reduce a bulbous tip
- Narrow the nostrils
- Change the angle between your nose and upper lip
- Correct birth defects
- Correct injuries
- Correct a deviated septum
Rhinoplasty can be open or closed surgery. At the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute, we use the closed approach in most cases. The incisions are all internal, so there is no visible scarring.
Procedure
Incisions are made inside the nose. The cartilage and bone is sculpted, bumps are removed, nasal bones are narrowed or straightened, and the tip can be reshaped or defined.
Septoplasty can be performed during rhinoplasty, to correct a deviated septum and improve breathing.
Recovery
For the first week of recovery you will wear a splint, which helps to support the bridge of your nose, promote proper healing and help to shape the tip. Most of our patients experience minimal bruising and swelling, and only mild discomfort. You may also experience some nasal congestion for a week to ten days, or more. However, these things are short-lived and the appearance of your nose will continue to improve for up to a year.
