Chin Implants

Chin augmentation using implants will restore harmony and definition to the lower face and brings it into more harmony with the rest of the face. In some cases a chin implant will be recommended in conjunction with a facelift, neck lift or rhinoplasty to enhance the results of these procedures.
Cheek Implants
Flat cheekbones can make your face look tired and older. You may also find that they cause the skin below the cheeks to sag. Cheek augmentation using implants will restore facial contours, improving the look of your middle and lower face and creating a more youthful appearance.
The Procedure
Cheek and chin augmentation can be performed under local anesthesia and mild sedation.
- Chin implants are inserted through an incision inside the mouth or under the chin
- Cheek implants are inserted through an incision inside the mouth
- The incision is closed with dissolvable stitches
The cheek or chin augmentation procedure takes about 30 minutes to an hour.
Recovery
After the chin or cheek augmentation procedure you will experience some mild swelling and bruising, which usually subsides in one to two weeks. At this point you can resume normal, light activities, but you should avoid heavy activities, such as contact sports, for several weeks.
Chin and/or cheek implants can be used alone or in combination with other procedures. Many patients choose to have facial implants along with a facelift or rhinoplasty. For some patients chin and/or cheek implants can alleviate the need for other facial procedures.
